Salem is full of so many gorgeous spots to take photos. Regardless of if you’re going for historic, witchy, Halloween or otherwise, you can definitely find something to fit the vibe.
The Haunted Happenings Marketplace takes place in a few areas of Salem and each one offers a variety of locations that are most certainly photo ready and Instagram worthy. Which ones will you choose?
The Salem Common
The Salem Common offers several great spots to take photos in between browsing all of the vendors.
The orange lights in the Common (shown above) are one of my personal favorites and seeing them lighting up the space once the sun goes down is always lovely. They are a hot spot and IG favorite so be sure to swing by once it’s dark to grab those last minute goodies from the vendors and snap photos.
The Salem Common is also home to Phillips Elementary School which many of you may know from Hocus Pocus. The kids lure the Sanderson sisters there in an attempt to trap them.
Last, the view of the Witch Museum from the angle of the Common is another favorite of mine. Be sure to snap some photos with this very uniquely Salem landmark behind you!
Derby Square at the Old Town Hall
Derby Square at the Old Town Hall is another historic landmark and Hocus Pocus filming location in Salem. You will probably recognize it as the spot where Max and Dani’s parents partied their heads off while the witches performed on stage. The building itself is very pretty and makes for a great photo op.
While you’re walking from the vendors on the Salem Common down Essex street and to the Old Town Hall be sure to keep your eyes peeled for buskers! They are most commonly found along this path and make for another very Instagram worthy shot. Be sure to bring cash to tip for photos and follow your favorites on social media to figure out where exactly they will be.
Charlotte Forten Park
Charlotte Forten Park is an easy walk, especially if you’re heading there from Derby Square at the Old Town Hall. Enjoy browsing the vendors at this Haunted Happenings Marketplace location then be sure to snap some photos with the artwork along the side of Real Pirates (shown above).
Bonus tip: Lulu’s Bakery and Pantry right next door to Real Pirates has lovely treats and delicious coffee.
From Charlotte Forten Park you are just a quick walk away from the Punto Urban Art Museum which is a lesser known attraction in Salem. It’s a cluster of absolutely gorgeous and vibrant public art along the buildings in The Point. Be sure to take a walk along there for some fun and unique photo ops once you’re done browsing the vendors at Charlotte Forten Park and caffeinating yourself up at Lulu’s.
There you have it! Several fun Instagram worthy locations in Salem while you’re enjoying the Haunted Happenings Marketplace. We will be back in action on the third, fourth and fifth weekends this October. See you there!
