My name is Cat and my business is called Heart of the Earth Arts. I am a visual artist, and a practicing pagan witch! I sell prints and stickers of my original paintings. The aesthetic of my art has been described as “whimsi-goth” or “witchy cottage-core”—my images tend to be intricately detailed, colorful, playful, and full of magical symbolism. One of the major themes of my art is cycles of nature: the cyclical rhythms of the Earth, the moon, the womb, the seasons, the planets, and so on, depicted in circular mandalas. Some of my most popular prints include a lunar calendar, which I update every year; a pagan Wheel of the Year; a seasonal wild mushroom foraging wheel; an astrological zodiac calendar; and a yin-yang mandala based on the I Ching. I am currently at work on a Womb Wisdom painting, honoring the menstrual cycle (with phase-specific energies, herbal and nutritional support, and self-care), which will be finished and available by September! All of my paintings feature gnomes and fae folk and other supernatural beings hidden throughout them, if you look closely. My smaller prints, stickers, and greetings cards tend to be simpler and less complex, and they feature gnomes, foxes, bears, rabbits, musical instruments, goddesses, teapots, mushrooms, herbs, and zodiac signs, among many other things. At markets, the prices of my wares range from $1 to $55, which the average price being $20. I think I am a very friendly and approachable person by nature, and I love talking with folks about what it means to be a witch in the modern age. My art is a jumping-off point for conversations about paganism, witchcraft, moon magic, Earth honoring, astrology, herbalism, ancestors, alchemy, fae folk, and so many other topics that I know the people coming to Salem for Haunted Happenings would really resonate with.
