Trick-or-treating, free museum admissions, garage parking, and merchant specials
Friday, October 6, 3:00 p.m.
SALEM, MA – Mayor Dominick Pangallo, in partnership with Salem’s local attractions, museums, and Salem merchants, is pleased to announce that this Halloween’s “Mayors Night Out” will take place on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Beginning at 3:00 p.m., participating museums and attractions will open free of charge to Salem residents. Residents must provide a photo identification showing proof of Salem residency to gain free admission. Students may use a school identification card, bus pass, or a Salem Public Library card.
As part of Mayor’s Night Out, the Museum Place Mall Garage and the South Harbor Garage will offer free parking to Salem residents after 2:00 p.m. (proof of residency will be required when you exit the garages).
“Mayor’s Night Out has become a great tradition for Salem residents,” said Mayor Pangallo. “October is a busy time for our businesses, and this is their way to say thank you to our citizens, offering a day that lets our locals enjoy Halloween. Salem’s business community has really embraced this program and I am pleased to announce that we have more participants than we have ever had. I am excited to greet all the trick-or-treaters for the first time as Mayor.”
There are over twenty businesses at Pickering Wharf participating this year. Kathleen Spagnolo from Timeless Life Treasures has organized almost all of the businesses on the wharf to participate this year, so it’s definitely worth the walk, along with many other participating businesses elsewhere across the downtown.
The Salem law firm of Mazow | McCullough, PC will be distributing safety flasher lights to help keep our little trick-or-treaters safe and seen, Broad Smiles Pediatric Dentistry will be giving out toothbrushes to our youngsters, and the Creative Collective is returning to Mayor’s Night, bringing along their signature photo backdrops and candy, along with some costumed surprises as always. This year, they’re also inviting their friends from Lego to join the fun, offering extra treats and interactive Lego tables for everyone to enjoy!
New this year, as part of Disney+’s Hallowstream celebration for the 30th anniversary of Hocus Pocus, a free screening of the movie is scheduled at 7 PM (or at sunset) on the Salem Common. This screening is brought to you by Disney+ and the Creative Collective. What a great way to end trick or treating than by watching this iconic film, where several scenes were filmed in Salem. This screening is dependent on favorable weather.
