The Lobster Shanty is a longtime Salem restaurant and neighborhood dive bar serving fresh seafood, scratch-made comfort food, specialty cocktails, and local character in the heart of downtown. The Shanty has welcomed locals and visitors from its Front Street home since the 1970s.

Look for classic New England and Connecticut-style lobster rolls, the signature Lobstertini, a covered outdoor deck, and a casual, welcoming atmosphere. The weather-permitting patio welcomes well-behaved dogs. The restaurant does not take reservations.

Find The Lobster Shanty at 25 Front Street, Salem, MA 01970, beside Artists’ Row and across from Old Town Hall. Metered parking is available nearby at the Klop Alley lot.

The Shanty operates seasonally from early April through mid-January and offers both regular dinner service and a later limited menu. Hours can change with the season or holidays, so check the official website or call before visiting.

Because the small kitchen handles a high volume of seafood, the restaurant advises that it cannot safely accommodate severe shellfish allergies.
