Molly M. Pottery brings colorful, cozy, and sometimes witchy handmade ceramics to the Haunted Happenings Marketplace in Salem, Massachusetts. Molly McCafferty took her first pottery class at Indigo Fire in Watertown in 2022 and immediately fell in love with the process — and with the return to childlike joy and creativity that working in clay gives her.
Growing up in the Western Mountains of Maine, where “mud” is a season, gave Molly an early appreciation for getting her hands dirty and feeling connected to the natural beauty around her. That sensibility carries into every piece she makes.
Sgraffito, Carved by Hand
Molly’s current favorite technique is sgraffito — designs hand-carved through layers of colored slip to reveal the clay beneath. The result is functional pottery with a playful, sometimes spooky streak: one-of-a-kind pieces made to be used and loved.
