About Outside the Box Learning Company

Outside the Box Learning Company brings hands-on science and art activities to the Haunted Happenings Marketplace in Salem, Massachusetts. Led by local educator Linda Sessa, the interactive station invites kids, teens, and adults to make their own slime and giant bubbles — mixing glow-in-the-dark pigments, color-changing powders, and fluffy, stretchy textures into a one-of-a-kind creation to take home.

Alongside the slime bar, Linda teaches the art of the giant bubble — 360-degree bubbles, high floaters, and bubbles inside bubbles — a colorful, joyful spectacle that draws crowds of every age. Her programs have appeared at the Lynn Museum, the North Shore Children’s Museum, the Head of the Charles, and community events across the region.

New to Salem Common in 2026

A first-year addition to the marketplace, Outside the Box Learning Company offers something you won’t find at any other booth on the green: a make-it-yourself experience. Slime is just $7–10 to make, and giant-bubble play is offered for a suggested donation — hands-on fun for the whole family.
