Philomena’s Rising brings hand-sculpted art dolls, upcycled jewelry, and original art to the Haunted Happenings Marketplace in Salem, Massachusetts — a family studio that finds beauty in what is broken.
About
Philomena’s Rising began in 2020, when its founder turned to art to heal after brain surgery and a new life with disability. What started as one person’s recovery grew into a family studio that creates — and heals — together. Signature pieces include handmade jewelry built from found and broken objects, transforming what is damaged into something beautiful, alongside hand-sculpted and hand-painted art dolls. Their daughter contributes handmade mystery coffins and original paintings, and this season the booth also carries “Hallways,” a self-published book of poetry dedicated to survivors of domestic violence and to those living with chronic illness and disability.
What Makes Them Unique
A returning favorite, Philomena’s Rising has drawn a devoted following for its one-of-a-kind art dolls over the past two Haunted Happenings seasons. Every piece carries the studio’s guiding idea — that something broken can be made into something beautiful — which makes each doll, pendant, and page feel personal rather than mass-produced.
